Panasonic SD-YD250 Review
The product is a very good bread maker. In the past, I have only purchased video, music, and book products through Amazon. This purchase was very disappointing. It was very clear that from the packaging, the folks at Amazon, did not follow instructions on the shipping. Fortunately, Panasonic had packaged there product well. Unfortunately, when the product arrive the majority of the packing material was broken and the top of the bread maker damaged. Since this was the last one, it was not returned. However, I am very disappointed in the service from Amazon.

I purchased this machine as a replacement for a Philips bread machine I’ve had for a couple of years. It’s the third bread machine I’ve purchased for myself, and had bought its predecessor (the SD-250) for my Parents some time ago. My Philips packed up (the bread tin broke away from its base), and they don’t make spares, so I have to throw the whole machine in the bin – definitely won’t buy another Philips anything. My parents have been most impressed with the Panasonic, and it’s been personally recommended to me by other people, so after reading all the reviews on Amazon.com I decided to buy one. So, to the point, I’m thoroughly impressed with this machine. It is solid and quiet. I took the first loaf I made with it and sliced it to find an absolutely even loaf (even from the 1:55 rapid mode). All the other machines I’ve had have had some level of streaking or unevenness in the bread. As for all the other criticism of the recipe book for its use of weight rather than volume measurements for flour, it is a far more accurate way of measuring flour for any baking. Also the manual has since been updated (no doubt as a result of these criticisms), and now shows the approximate volume equivalents in all the recipes.

I used it twice since I got it and it seems a well-built machine. The crust is pretty think even using light option. When using extra large option, the center was not done. It might be my fault since I pre-mixed a little bit but I seriously doubt it. PS After 6 months usage, it seems that it was my fault mostly for the thick crust. I added more water and now it’s much better. Of course, I had followed the recipe book closely so it was the recipe’s fault actually. But the machine itself works nicely and should not be blamed for (receipe book IS part of the deal though)

I had an old bread machine that worked great. Slap the ingredients in and always made an excellent loaf (except when I forgot the yeast one time). This one is cranky and takes a much more precise measuring which is not for me. The beater came loose and I can’t for the life of me figure out what happened to it. Called tech support and they promised to send me one. Never got it. Thought Panasonic had a better reputation. SO I limp along with the bread machine but its not working properly. Disapointed.
