KitchenAid KICA0WH Ice Cream Maker Attachment Review
I really enjoy my ice cream maker. One of the reasons I wanted a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer was for the attachment options and the ice cream maker has delivered. The recipes for ice cream are easy to do and make ice cream better than you can buy in the store.

I bought this thinking how cool it would be to use our brand new kitchen aid to make ice cream and that I would use this all the time and that was almost 2 years ago and I have only used it once! For one thing it takes an extensive amount of time to prepare the unit to use it. You have to put the bowl in the freezer (if you have room that is) for at least 12 hours to allow the liquid in the bowl to be frozen and than you can put it on your Kitchen Aid and you let it run for about 15 min with the ice cream mixture than its back into the freezer with the bowl to allow the ice cream to harden. Although it looks nice to me it was a waste of money. I would have been better off buying a Ice Cream Maker for half the price.

KitchenAid KICA0WH Ice Cream Maker AttachmentI have made ice cream in a number of containers and this is far by the best yet – buy a good book for recipes since their booklet is limited and the possibilities are endless.Go to your farmer’s market and with eggs, cream, milk and a little sugar you can make ice cream with rhubarb! Quite good in fact – The Ultimate Ice Cream Book: Over 500 Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, Drinks, And Morealso good is the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream book but use whatever you have on hand and make it yourself – don’t settle for store bought with poor quality – make your own!

I purchased the ice cream attachment to go with my 6 qt. mixer. I know a few have left negative reviews. I was a bit concerned but realized most reviews were very positive. I have used mine 3 times in the past week just trying different flavors. It works great. I place the frozen ice cream in the freezer for a while so it will get a bit firmer. The whole family thinks it is the best homemade they’ve had. If you have a mixer this would be a great attachment for you to invest in.

Before i got this maker i was using a $15 rival icecream maker i got from walmart. it lasted for about 2 or 3 years (i used it a lot about 50 hrs) I wanted to get an ice cream maker that didnt need rock salt or ice. I was super excited with i got this one from macy’s. It froze a batch of ice cream in about 20-25 minutes.(booyah) but if i wanted to make other batches after that i had to freeze the bowl again for another 8 hours. I like to make large quanties of ice cream and then give them to people but this really limits the amount i can make in a 24 hr period. since i live in a small apartment with very little kitchen space, this is nice because i can just put it back in its box and throw it in the closet. but if i had a bigger place, i would definetly get an electrical, self freezing ice cream maker.
