Baking doesn’t have to mean time-consuming cleanup work with this reusable silicone baking mat. To use, simply place the mat smooth side up on the countertop when working with sticky materials, such as batter, taffy, or caramel, or place it on a sheet pan to bake cookies, cakes, and pastries–the mat turns any pan into a nonstick surface with no greasing necessary. Made in France of woven glass fabric coated with food-safe silicone, the product conforms to U.S. regulations and is FDA, NSF, and Kosher certified. It can be used at temperatures varying from -40 to 482 degrees F, and can last 2,000 to 3,000 times depending on use and care. After the baked pastries have cooled, remove them one by one or gently lift the baking mat to allow them to roll off. To clean the baking mat, simply wipe it down using hot water and dish soap, shake off any excess water, and hang or lay it flat on an even surface to dry. Pliable and flexible, the mat should be stored by either rolling it up or keeping it flat. Fitting any 13-by-18-inch baking sheet, the baking mat measures 11-5/8 by 16-1/2 inches and is safe to use in the refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and oven.

This item is wonderful for baking. Nothing seems to stick to it. Easy to clean and store. Transaction was smooth. The only problem I had was one of the items had a small hole in it and this item can not be used with any kind of hole in it. I have not tried returning it yet becuase I am not sure how to do that.

I purchased a Silpat mat and it is a fabulous item. Cookies come off easily: no more burned bottoms or overly crispy edges. There is an image left behind on the sheet where cookies were last baked, but it doesn’t affect the performance of the sheet. The sheet can produce some smoking from the oven temperature, but it wasn’t a problem. I saw a similar product at my local grocery store: same size sheet but red in color (those sheets were $4.00 a piece, so it might be worth considering). I baked 4 different cookie recipes using this mat and all were the best batches I’d ever made.

I don’t know how they work, but they do and they’re wonderful! Nothing sticks to them and cleaning the pan after baking is a breeze. Like using parchment paper, only better. Perfect for candy making, as again, nothing sticks. You want proof? Watch the cooking programs on TV – the chefs use them extensively for preparation and cooking.

I love using Silpat for my baking needs. Everything I place on it slides off without a problem. My only complaint is that the both sides of my Silpat will not lie down. They curl up in the air as if they are trying to encapsulate whatever is on the baking sheet. I have tried sandwiching this sheet between two cookie sheets and various other methods attempting to get it to lie down. Nothing has worked. I am trying to roll it up backwards and leave it bound by rubber bands for two months or so. I have some other Matfer baking sheets I am using for the time being.
