Hey this American made pot is fairly sweet. I like to fry stuff in it. Much less mess on the range trigger of the high sides. Only con I can say is the preseason is. nicely make sure you fry in it for a whilst before you attempt to braise something. Any acidic slow cooking will end the preseason real fast. It is just not thick sufficient. but if you season it your self or fry in it no issues. Adore this pot one of my favorites. Oh and did I mention it is created in America.

I cannot say sufficient great things about this item! You will not be disappointed. The lid can double as a skillet which makes this item even more desirable.

I’ve been buying Lodge Cast Iron cookware for years and have always been more than satisfied. When I decided to buy a dutch oven I looked at the enameled five quart but the poor reviews and also the reality it was created in China sent me to the logic 5 quart. I like the fact that it is pre-seasoned but I did oven season it before use. The first meal in the new pot was a Chicken and Sausage Gumbo after which I knew I’d made a great purchase, Stick with Lodge and American Cast Iron!

I have been contemplating getting cast iron cookware for sometime, especially after reading how toxic non-stick cookware are. My only regret was that i didn’t take this step sooner. The dutch oven was perfectly seasoned and ready to use. I was worried that food would get stuck, but so far so good. I have decided to replace all my cookware with Lodge cast iron cookware. Don’t hesitate if you are considering this product.

This Dutch over is such a nice size. Since becoming the proud owner of this Lodge item, I find I turn to it for things I used to use our 3QT pot for more and more often. It has a wider bottom than a typical pot, and more surface area translates directly into more even and perhaps faster cooking. And because it’s iron, you know it’ll last for just about ever while adding a bit of iron to your diet as well! We even use it to boil water for pasta in and it has never let us down.

I love Le Creuset enamelled cookware, and have a growing collection of that, but sometimes the thought of dropping a bundle every time I want a cast iron pan is just depressing. I got this dutch oven at a fantastic price through Amazon and am very impressed. Yes, it doesn’t have the enamel coating to prevent a reaction with acidic foods, but with my other cast iron I’ve found that the more seasoned they are, the less they seem to react to tomatoes or wine. It’s a very convenient size for a small family, and you can even use it outside.

The Dutch Oven is great, the delivery very poor. The carrier Amazon used had the package for 21 days, then delivered it to the wrong post office, who sent it back to Amazon. I had to pay and extra $22.00 to get it here in time for our camping trip.

I absolutely love my 5-quart Dutch oven. It cooks beef stew faster than I have ever experienced. I made an artisan bread in it and it was fabulous. I can’t imagine how I managed before I got this.
